Picks 'em off pretty good!! I love those old 2 cylinder tractors!!Found a starter solenoid that would work for a test. Just put some fuel in the carb bowl and gave it a try. It runs. Nice to finally get some signs of life.

I was also happy to see it had about 12 psi oil pressure. I think these are supposed to run at 10-15 psi.Picks 'em off pretty good!! I love those old 2 cylinder tractors!!
That's progress! I'm sure that was music to your ears.Found a starter solenoid that would work for a test. Just put some fuel in the carb bowl and gave it a try. It runs. Nice to finally get some signs of life.
Sometimes it takes a lot of pressure before they let go. On the fist reduction gear I put some good pressure on the snap-on puller and hit the end of the screw with a hammer. If it doesn't come loose I add a few more turns and try again.I love the taper splined shafts that John Deere uses on the old 2 cylinder tractors. When you'll pulling the gears off of the shafts you don't have to fight it all the way off of the shaft. Once you pop it loose, it's loose!
