What happened at work today.

ito: all of the above . beautiful work ( and what a cool boss , you must be a very valuable employee :wink: ) . the trailer is impressive . i thought it was much bigger also , till the can came into view . my father was an incredible sheetmetal man , i can only wish to fill his shoes . one of his statements , if you really want to see how good someone is, get him to make a 2 foot tall "fitting" , only make it 2 inches tall instead . coppersmythe.................................................hello all from the warm , muggy , rainy deep south , 52* low , 71* high today .

You guys are lucky all little projects. The frame rusted in my 99 tj wrangler. I’m thinking of fabricating a rectangular steel frame from 2”x6” x1/4” Wall. The orginal frame relays on the wrangler body for rigity too. People on you tube weld in those quick fix prefab parts without checking the rails for straightness. They unbolt the body now the frame says.

Got started on another government job I been thinking about for a little while. Got to love the milling machine for holes and radius's. This one will probably take several weeks to get completed.

Well Eugene, since you ask :lol: I am making a new frame for the top of the cut-a-way. I bought this from a friend last year and the top is just not heavy enough. It's been repaired on one of the pin holders once and I want to add some weight to it for a better disc job. I also have a piece of railroad track I acquired 15 years ago for a drag I want to incorporate on the rear so I'm making the frame to extend off the back for that.

The disk harrow doesn't look like a government project. Must be a government cover story. It's really for Skunk Works, Area 51. Right?

Wait, could be a NASA project. Send the disk harrow to the moon or Mars along with a battery powered tractor. Disk harrow out a landing pad for a colonization space station.

Got started on the 3 point connection. Decided to go with a pin through two holes on each side instead of just a regular lift pin since it will be heavier and hooked to a 60HP tractor.

Shane if I had known you were that good when you came by Fri. I would have put you to work on a couple of my welding projects o well my welding probably looks as good as yours after I weld and grind and weld and grind and weld and grind and paint.

If my wife didn't have somewhere to be that afternoon I would have been glad to help you do whatever but I had to get home to watch the kids. Got this taken apart Saturday.

Got the frame welded together on the bottom side. Tied the corners together in the front with the 3/4”x3” hitch bar. Time to flip it and finish welding and build the top link bracket.

It’s taking shape. Not to bad for an old farm boy who never went to college :lol:

The frame is done. Just got to figure out what I want to do to attach the railroad track to the back then get the brush out and paint it.

While waiting on paint to dry and while the milling machine is running I worked on a pump shaft for a friend. We’re gonna see what happens, speedy sleeves are expensive!

Here’s what the milling machine has been doing. Customer brought this sample and said the supplier went out of business. Needed 12 made and no time to make a mold. Those 2 little slots are .080” wide.

Made some pins from stainless and drilled and tapped them to connect to the chain welded on the frame so they won’t get lost. Stick welded the top pin with stainless welding rod. Used the A-frame and hoist to hold the front so I could flip it.

Made a fixture to bore the pump housing out for an oil seal in the lathe.
