Ugly drive line noise diagnosis?

The Cub I "adopted" recently sure is noisy from the drive line. I know they all tend to be, but this seems a bit excessive. I made a Youtube video (link below). It's really bad under power, totally goes away when the clutch is pushed on. Also the noise really changes dramatically when the throttle is pushed in and then back out.

Anyone willing to take a guess? Any other ways to diagnose?

Does sound come from bellhousing area or transmission area?

Probably not the problem in your case, I couldn't listen to your video, the audio on my computer doesn't work. Anyway, many moons ago I thought I had rear end or trans problems on my H since I would feel the vibration through the platform, after pulling it and not really finding anything something made me jack up the front and spin the wheels, turned out both side had bad bearings. At least I knew everything in the trans looked good!

I just had another thought, my Cub got water in the trans and froze, I drained it after it thawed and flushed it with diesel. while driving it 100 feet or so to splash the diesel around those straight cut gears were screaming so bad I thought I had real problems but when I refilled with 80W90 its back to normal. Maybe see what the lube looks like.

Could it possibly be the PTO making that noise? Put the cub in neutral, and let the clutch out, and see if the noise persists...

And wheel weight mounting bolts if there are any.

Such a quick clacking I would assume its something that moves fast or is connected/connects to something that moves fast. Since it goes away when pushing the clutch in, it must be somewhere farther down the line like the transmission. It almost sounds like 2 gears in the transmission lightly tapping or "kissing" each other. Have you taken the transmission cover off and looked at the gears and shifter forks? Does the noise change at all in different gears?

Hi,
You didn't say if you checked, or changed the transmission oil.
It is common for Cub trans to have water in them, from rain, or condensation in them over time.
The trans oil filler plug is at the rear of the shifter.
The trans oil level plug is low on the left side of the trans, fill it only until oil comes out there.
It holds 3 1/2 Pints of gear oil.
The trans oil drain plug is at the bottom of the trans, visible from under the platform.
