That looks much better than the picture you first posted. Boy, your soil sure doesn't want to break up!

How about a picture of a dead furrow? That will give us a better idea how deep you're plowing. (A dead furrow is one where you haven't rolled soil from another pass into it.)

Yeah I’m plowing 100% clay pasture with mammoth rocks every 10 inches because Connecticut...

My hands are fairly large so I reckon it’s around 7-8 inches deep

Soil tests to see if you need for amendments.

Winter may break up some of the soil ridges. Early spring rock picking up time.

I like forage radish to break up the soil and provide green manure.

Above link. Clay soil. First time turned over in at least 30 years. Maybe much longer because the acreage/farm does not have a corn base.

Couple passes with the disk harrow and peg toothed harrow, the soil worked up nicely.

That's a pretty impressive little plow, also don't beat the guy up about his plowing technique . It can be a huge pain to get the forrows as close as they should be but eventually you get there haha.

Like everything else in life: Practice makes perfect (although, I had a basketball coach in school that liked to say, "Perfect practice makes perfect." Hmm, we didn't have a winning season that year either...)

You must have exported those rocks down to the shoreline...we gottem too. Looks like you are doing great...right now the clay ground is like concrete because it is soooo dry

In 8th grade my history teacher loved to go off and talk about random things, and whenever we got to talking about gardening or farming he’d always spread his arms and say “we grow rocks!”
