Street Sweeper

Stanton

501 Club
Came across this not too long ago... http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/grd/2925932311.html

Would be a novelty, unless you really had a need for one.

I'd like to have one if I ever found one within reasonable driving distance and the price was right.

Thanks, Rudi. I saw that brochure from TM's site as well and it appears really, really close.

It looked unique and you don't see one come up for sale every day, so thought I'd list it.

Stanton:

Like Bill said, I would get it if it was even relatively close. I now have a 1/4 mile almost of paved driveway that could use some sweeping a couple times a year :big smile: And yeah, I would love to have one. Maybe someday. Sure hope somebody from the forum gets this puppy.

I think I know the owner. Couple years ago I took some photos of his street sweeper mounted on a Cub. If it's the same sweeper, it's located about 200 yards from my son's house.

Will stop by and see if it's the same street sweeper. Also see what other Cub items he has for sale.

I have a use for something like that, sweeping black walnuts into a pile.

Okey dokey. Done went and purchased it.

Picking up this weekend. Need to take the 16 foot tandem axle trailer cause it's to long for my 8 foot trailer.

Seller has two cubs, red standard and a yellow Cub for sale, and some implements.

Eugene, There's a local place that sells used street sweeper brushes. Most are 60" x 20" in case that one is worn out.

Thanks. The brush appears to be in excellent condition. At least in good enough condtion to try and brush black walnuts in a pile. Will keep the information in mind.

The brush is driven from by a 2" diameter gear on the PTO, then chain to gear on brush. Will have to mount the sweeper to check the brushes RPM. But with the drive set up is should be very easy to slow the brush down.

Eugene: Can you see if there are any SN plates etc., to id the sweeper?
No ID on the sweeper. Looked this sweeper over carefully several years ago when the seller had it mounted on one of his Cubs.

I think the seller said that it originally came from a Veterans facility some place in Missouri. Probably Columbia, Mo. Va facility.

Wow! Glad to hear you bought it for a couple reasons: 1) It went to a fellow Cub Forum member, and 2) it's staying in Missouri!! :D

We'll be interested in hearing how well it sweeps walnuts. You know, you could bring it mounted to a Cub and do a "ShowMe and Tell" at the MidMO ShowMe CubFest next month at Ron's...uhmmm? Would be great to see it.

Eugene:

Thanks for confirming that it was a Sweepster and of course finding the manual for it :D :{_}: Moved it here to preserve the thread. To much good info an pics to lose.

You going to mount it up?

Not immediately. It's still sitting on the trailer at the acreage. The plan is to try the Sweepster windrowing black walnuts.

Thanks to the down loaded manual I discovered that the sweepster must be stored with the brushes off the ground and the brushes covered to prevent deterioration. Next thing I read is that the Sweepster can be used to dethatch lawns and move gravel.

I think I am going to partially disassemble and straighten the beam behind the brush, which appears to be bent.

BigDog: Does the round pipe on the bottom of the hood in your picture have a slight kink in it starting about where the left "U" bracket is located?

The one I purchased looks like and mounts like the one mounted on the Cub in the brochure posted earlier.
