Street Sweeper

Rotary Brooms work great for dethatching lawns, but you have to be careful, if you get to low all you see is black dirt flying. I use ours at work every year to dethatch the boulevards. IT really gets rid of all the sand the city/county put on them all winter.

They work well for getting light snow off the drive in the winter.

That's what I thought of. When I was at Ball State for a few years, they would drive skid-steer loaders around with rotary brooms on the sidewalks. We affectionately called them "Ice Polishers"

I bought a Sweepster (not the IH version but one for a smaller lawn tractor) with plans of mounting it to the grader blade linkages on my Cub. I have a huge concrete driveway but live on a gravel road so it gets very dirty throughout the year. The sweepster will be great if I ever get to that project. Anyway, as previously noted, Sweepster/Jenkins is still in business and not too far from me in Dexter Michigan. I called them to find out what speed the brush should rotate at so I could get the proper pulleys for the cub. They were very friendly and helpful and they e-mailed me a repro manual for the model I got. Replacement brushes are still available and you can find local dealers via their web site. They are offered in metal and plastic depending on the terrain you are sweeping and you can mix and match if you want and yes, definitely store it with the brushes off the ground. Leaves and walnut shells should be no problem. I didn't know they made a model for the Cub so thanks for the pictures!

That company is still in Dexter, MI. I think the key is good brushes, they are pretty pricey.

A Cub seems perfect for small parking lots and such. I bet you could make money with one??

I looked at the pictures. In one you can see my car. I did numerous jobs there.I made rings(ran the roll form machine) and did section winding.Thats actually making the brooms sections and I also did some welding.I hope they are still there. They had a tornado that went thru Dexter a few weeks ago,it made a really mess of things according to my X-wife,she is from there.

Small world, my cousin is a farmer in Dexter. He has his father-in-laws BN and an M, everything else is giant. Still a nice little town, but I don't recognize anything after downtown these days.
