REAR TIRES

Has anybody used the Bridgestone 8.3x24 tires from Simple Tire? They seem to be cheaper at about $126 including shipping.

My mistake, under specs it says 24" diameter. I had searched for 8.3x24 farm tire and this came up. Where is the best place to buy tires?
I need all 4 and a rear rim

Check out millertire.com, or a local AG tire place if there's one near you. Best deals might be had locally as tractor tires cost a bit to ship.

....and a local shop may charge less for mounting tires they sold, unless you do that yourself.

Hello all. I busted a rear tire yesterday on my 64 cub. What brand of tire on there do y’all recommend? I’d like to have the Goodyear rear tires but they are a little out of my price range. Brand size and ply rating. I think my rim is the 7x24

I would visit your local tire dealer that carries ag tires and shop prices. Almost all ag tires are made offshore these days, even Goodyears.

If you have a local tire shop you regularly deal with its probably smart to try them. I got mine from a retiring tractor supply guy with the idea of mounting them myself. After the first one I took the second to the tire shop I use. They mounted it for FREE. They told me they carried the size and their price would have been the same.

I got fronts there and they were reasonably priced and mounted for free as well.

I finally got 2 rear tires for the Cub, 8.3x24 BKT brand with tubes and mounting and tax for $360.00, local tire shop. Bought new rims on Amazon, $88 each and new ft tires and tubes on Ebay They all look nice . Now that its rolling I rebuilt the mag, needed a new coil, pts and condenser. Rebuilt the carb, mounting holes where stripped out, helicoiled them, Now
going to start on the engine.

Tom,
Sounds like it’s coming along nicely. Need some progress photos!
How did the inside of the gas tank clean up?

Peter

I purchased Carlisle farm specialist r1 model # 570004 from tireshipped2you.com for $162 each with free shipping. they weigh about 30lbs more than others I have seen. they are also made in the usa.

Hi Peter, the gas tank was a real problem. I used muriatic acid and about 5# of 3/8 nuts, shaking it over about 3 days then flushing it. It cam out like new. I am not going to even coat it.
My computer skills are limited, maybe I can get some help to post pictures.
Head is off and pan is off. Crank is fine as well as the bore. I will be replacing the valves and grinding the seats. Ball hone the cyls and new rings
and rod bearings. Will be like new

Well I ordered the Carlisle farm specialist. My local tire shop was way too expensive. So I will be buying two large tire irons and a bead buster to change myself. I will also be filling them with antifreeze myself. I got the 9.5-24 and after tax was 403.88 with tubes. If it work out I will post progress. Thanks!

Wheel weights don't leak when you get a puncture. (Just my preference not to stir the weights vs fluid debate.)
