Motor information

Looking for information on a Farmall Cub motor.
The S# is 29111V, and the casting # are O, or Q 2 E.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Click on the HOME link above top left on this page, select INFORMATION, then serial # and you will find a table showing SN and Casting Codes. Casting Code O is 1947 and the engine SN that you listed is probably the same year. JMHO Stan
Correction Edit: Q is correct for 1947 and 29111 falls in the range for cub tractors SN's built in 1948 which is Letter code R.

Hi,
The owner's and operator's manuals for Farmall Cubs say the engine serial numbers begin with the letters FCUBM. The engine you have might have originally not been in a Cub, I don't know, probably Jim B. knows.
The V might be a number that isn't stamped clearly.
For the casting code you posted, the first digits are numbers, not a letter. They didn't use just 0, it has to be a month, it could be 10, maybe you didn't see the 1. Try cleaning it more, and using a good light to see it.
The last digit is the year, E is 1959, the info at TM Tractor Parts says.
Here is their info below.

The last digit would be a Q for 1947, not the first digit.

Update--------After everyone's feedback, I checked the numbers again.
We have 10-2-E, so that would be Oct.2nd 1959.
And the engine numbers are 229411V
Thanks, again for everyone's help.

The Cub parts manual has info about suffix letters in the serial numbers.
It says the letter V in the engine serial number means exhaust valve rotators, for engines number 221568 and above. Before that number they used the letter R. Exhaust valve rotators were an option.
Below is the page from the parts manual.
Thank You for that information.
