Yes, 3 & 4 should be switched, being rotation runs clockwise.
That's good to know Glen, but my 58 operators manual doesn't show or mention firing order. My service manual does list the firing order in the specs but no picture. I really like these wiring diagrams and is what I'm using to rewire my tractor. I was just concerned that anyone using them is going to assume the diagrams are correct.Hi,
There are pictures of the spark plug wires plugged into the distributor, and magneto caps, showing the firing order, in some or most years of the Cub operator's manuals.
Here's one way to fix it:Thanks, not sure if that could be fixed somehow? Both 6 and 12 volt diagrams are like that.
IH changed the operator's manuals for Cubs in about 1958. Info was removed from the operator's manual, and put in a separate maintenance manual. I don't know if you have the maintenance manual, here it is below, it is in Resources at the top of the page.but my 58 operators manual doesn't show or mention firing order.
Glen, the information you provided is great- thanks. Stan is on the right track, I'm simply looking for a way to correct or note the mistake on the wiring diagrams in the cub section.IH changed the operator's manuals for Cubs in about 1958. It has info in it for other models of tractors.

The 1955 Cub operator's manual on here has 84 pages.
The 1959 Cub and LoBoy operator's manual on here has 50 pages.
Below is a page from the 1955 Cub operator's manual showing the firing order, and spark plug cables for the Battery Ignition unit, at the bottom picture.

A little photoshop application gets this: (cut and paste.)Glen, the information you provided is great- thanks. Stan is on the right track, I'm simply looking for a way to correct or note the mistake on the wiring diagrams in the cub section.
Something like this but obviously more professional looking. A computer person should be able to do this fairly easy I would think?

That question is above my pay gradeThere you go Stan!
Now can that be implemented into the forum diagrams easily?
