The above site has pages of the recalled fire extinguishers, model and serial numbers, and how to return it.

Found one on the list in the basement shop. Headed to acreage to check the two extinguishers inside the shop. Will also have to check son's garage and house.

Thanks for the reminder. I checked my ones in the house and they are ok, but need to double check the one in my shop.

I have never like the plastic handle extinguisher's you can't recharge them. Lot of company's wont recharge them. I don't know why they are still on the market. Thanks on the heads up.

While we are on the topic of fire extinguishers, I need to purchase two or three more. Replace the one from the basement shop and put two in the old hog barn on the acreage. Hog barn is used for tractor and other machine storage. Probably wouldn't hurt to put one in each of the vehicles.

Just checked mine:
2 of 4 are on the recall list. As luck would have it, they were the larger ones and one was just on the lower end of the "OK" range on the gauge.
Thanks so much for the heads-up.

Ron

Has anyone gotten the replacement fire extinguishers from Kidde?

The web page where we registered the extinguishers said we would receive them in 10-15 days. I guess I should be patient but with no email or snail mail feedback from Kidde, I just wondered if they were overwhelmed by the number to be replaced.

I turned 4 in for recall, received a replacement for the 4 pound last Thur., the 5 pound one today (Mon.), still waiting for the 2 little vehicle types.

NOTE!The boxes do not have nything saying which extinguisher they are replacing, but the new extinguisher will be the same model as the one they are replacing. It will have a metal valve rather than a plastic one though.

I got the first of four replacement fire extinguishers on Friday. They want the old one back and provide the box and prepaid shipping label.
The new one has all metal handles and lever. Same size and rating.
Pretty nice for trading in a 20 year old one!

Three more to go.
