Farmall 140

Can anyone tell me how to get the preventative maintenance manual for my 1978 Farmall 140?
Welcome to the group! I think you need to make 10 posts and then you can download the manuals you want. I'm not super familiar with this so I am sure one of the more knowledgeable members here can give you the specifics. Also, I think replying to your post will count towards the "10 posts" required. Sorry I'm not of more help.

In addition to the 10 posts there's a 30 day waiting period after joining the forum. Click on this link and read Jim Becker's post there, it gives the details. Stan

When they say 10 posts, they mean 10 meaningful posts, not just posts like "nice" or "I see". Those tend to get removed.

IH had a preventative maintenance manual that covered the Cub through the 340, including the 140. Reprints are available.

Enter the following into the search engine of your choice:

Preventative Maintenance Manual for Farmall and IH Cub, Cub Lo-Boy, 140, 240, and 340

IH published a Preventive Maintenance Manual back in the 1950s when the 140 first came out. I am not aware of later versions of that manual intended for a very late 140s like yours. Probably 90% of that manual would apply to your tractor (main exception - electrical). However, I suspect the information you are looking for is in the Operator's Manual. The Operator's Manuals were updated several times. I think the later editions included everything that had been in the Preventive Maintenance Manual. You probably want the latest edition to match up with a 1978 tractor.

By the way, the manual server on this site has very little that is specific to the 140. Of the manuals I mentioned here, the Preventive Maintenance Manual is the only one available. Binder Books, as previously suggested, has good reprints of manuals. They have several versions of the 140 Operator's Manual.

Thanks y’all! I have the original manual but it’s not really that good. I seen one that actually was really good but didn’t know how to go about getting it. I will use your advice and see what I can find!
