My 52' Cub was leaking hydraulic oil into the crankcase. When I opened it up, I found that one of the tangs on the cover-bearing spring was missing.
It looks like someone was in there recently, probably trying to fix the same issue. The shaft does have some wear. I did pick up a quad O-ring to see if that would help. The gear drive washer was also missing, and the nut was not all that tight. I feel like the previous job was pretty ham-fisted. Everything else looks good.
It looks like that spring was never a replacement part, and especially now. Just run it as is, or do I need to look for a donor pump?
