Cub express - questionable options

You guys haven't said if you have looked at the GVW plate, or sticker on the pickup you have, to see what the manufacturer says is the maximum gross weight for the pickup.
There is usually a plate or sticker with the maximum gross weight. Then you will know what the maker says, and you aren't guessing.
The plate or sticker is probably at the drivers door, on the body.
The plate on my Chev. 3/4 ton pickup says 7500 lbs. maximum GVW. The pickup weighs about 4300 lbs empty, so you can put a 3000 lb load in the box, and not exceed what Chev. put on the plate.
It is 2 wheel drive, the 4 wheel drive pickups will weigh more empty, so they may not be able to carry as much of a load, but it depends on how the pickup is equipped.
A tractor in the pickup box has a higher center of gravity than a load that is low in the box, so you need to be careful about that.
A trailer is probably the better way to haul tractors.

there is no excuse for being stupid when it comes to loading and hauling stuff. Some of the guys i used to run the road with when i drove semis got into all kinds of trouble by being stupid about how they loaded stuff---also saw MANY pickups sitting along the road with cop cars impounding them because of improper loading! They need to crack down on people doing that even harder! IF you dont have the right hauler---LEAVE IT SIT TIL YOU DO!!! ZERO EXCUSE FOR STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those stickers also normally list maximum axle weights for both axles. (They frequently total to more than the GVW. So, you can't max both at the same time.) Even if the load in this picture is under the GVW, it is a safe bet the rear axle weight is way over. Look at the front of the truck. It looks like the front axle has less weight on it that it would with an empty truck. In other words, the center of the load is actually BEHIND the rear axle. Combined with the height of the load, centered well above the sides of the box, this load is obviously unsafe whether it is over the GVW or not.

I agree Jim, the pickup in the 1st post looks like it has too much weight in it. I wasn't trying to say it looks ok.
The rear of my pickup sits up above level, when empty. The pickup sits level with 3000 lbs in the box, that's a load loaded evenly in the box. A big weight in the box behind the rear axle isn't good.
The pickup is as Chev made it, I haven't changed it.
I seldom put that much weight in it.
It's always better to not overload anything.
Pickups vary in the GVW they are made for. All you that have been on here for years know this.
My info is for newer people that might not have thought of it, and to look at the GVW plate or sticker, if you haven't.
