Brought home a Farmall H

I towed my "new to me" Farmall H home today. It belonged to my cousin who lives next door to our farm so it was a short trip. Had to make a second trip to get the engine, rad, and other misc. parts. The serial number is 189xxx which looks to be a 1945 model and has an X5 suffix which is a 5000-foot altitude tractor. It has a high compression head with pop-up pistons. I'll work on this project as time and money allow.

Just got done with a frame up on my 1944 H. Time and money are certainly considerations but a finished product is priceless. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Good looking project. Even came with belt pulley and fenders. Work has gotten in the way of my 44 H project. Good side is the weather has warmed up so I can continue paint work on my JD A, if the humidity stays down. Keep us posted on progress and of course pictures.

We had this HF shelter sitting around so I thought I would use it to park the H in for now. Had to clear a spot for it beside the shop.

Yes I could use a new screen name. Besides we have 3 cub projects now and over 30 other antique tractors. :help:
 
Finally got the H towed to the shop and backed in the HF shed. This should be nice keeping it cooler on sunny days and dry on the rainy ones.

Pulled the engine off our IH 350 parts tractor. I need some parts to put the H engine together like the head studs and possibly the governor if its salvageable.

Pulled the studs and governor off of the 350 engine. The governor looks to be in good shape so I should be able to use it.

Picked up the felpro gasket set at NAPA today. Guess its time to free up one of our engine stands and get the H block mounted up for disassembly and cleanup.

Been aiming to ask you your thoughts on the harbor freight shed. Our summer sun is brutal. I have some shade once the sun clears the trees on the west side of the house. Of course then the skeeters make a picnic out of you.

They are pretty light duty. but work fine if you don't get some big winds. It helps a lot to cross brace them with some ratchet straps. Just have to remember these are temporary shelters though some people have gotten many years use out of them. We bought this shed to keep some calves under shelter that were born in the winter a couple years ago.
 
Pulled some pieces off of the H in preparation for some sandblasting. I figure with it already torn down this far I should at least clean it up. I used some heat to loosen up the clamps on both the wheel and center casting to axle. I need to pull the rear centers to get the wheel weights off.

Pulled the wheels off to get at the wheel weights which are now mounted on our Super C in prep for some plowing.

I have 3 of them. We had a big storm a year ago and I had my 10 x 17 break free of the screw stakes, picked up complete, sail over the RV and basketball hoop and end up on its back at the far end of the yard. One side of the 45 degree sweeps were a little crimped, a couple of tears but all in one piece. Put 2 x 4 skiis on the legs and towed it back in place with the cub....still using it today.

They do get awfully hot on a hot day so if you can get one with a door on each end that would be good.
