New to me Cub Loboy 154

I forgot that the 154 pto shaft runs off twin be;ts from a sheave mounted on the shaft between the engine and transmission. Sorry! This may change what I said about pto rotation and speed. I'm pretty sure it's in the specs page of the Owners' Manual. Stan
EDIT: I decided to look it up in the Owners' Manual.

Thanks for the pdf's the spec sheet with the RPMS information. This is just what I was looking for. With that I can do the calculations to see what it would take to make a gear reduction.
Cliff.

pto is belt drive on these with a flimsy EXPENSIVE little clutch at the rear that wont hold up to tiller IF you made one to fit.
It would take at least a 60" tiller to take out the tire tracks and NO way a 154 would ever pull it! I use a KK 72" on a 504 utility and I gives it a load and thats a 40+ hp tractor compared to the 154 at 9 hp.
Another problem is that if you have the fat tires you dont have any traction at all to pull anything. Gotta have tall skinny bar tread tires for that.
my parts 154 dont have the creeper gear in it. I have 2 185's that do. Not sure what I will do with either one of them yet. They will probably end up getting junked later, not sure yet. I need to put the 154 motor in one of the 185's that I used to mow with but time and health keep getting in the way.

Thanks for the contribution to the thread Sonny.
The creeper assembly you said you have I may be interested. Where are you from? I am in Paulding County Ohio.
As for the tiller and its with. I am not to concerned with the tire tracks being an issue. I have a small walk behind tiller that I would use to take care of what ever tracks that me be left. I primary want to get a tiller that is big enough to bust up the soil and make it easier to work for the smaller tiller. It's the initial breaking of the soil that is the issue. I was thinking that I could get a small plow, single bottom cat 1 that would fit to do the turning of the soil then the tiller to finish breaking it then the final with the walk behind. I have a much larger tractor that I planned on using for all this but it needs a complete engine rebuild. So it's on the side line now. A AC7000 red belly 106hp. After the rebuild it will be a bit more. When I get this one back up and running I won't have the Hp concerns to worry about.
But for the moment I am going to try and use this little 154 to help take some of the effort out of the task.
with the parts you have would you have any of the 3pt hitch parts? The deverter valve? Hoses? Maybe a PTO reverse / reduction gear box adapter?
Please let me know. Thank you for your conversation.

JMHO, but I'm going to advance another approach. Unless you're going to use this 154 on a regular basis for a lot of work you will have a lot less money invested in a rental tractor and tiller. AND a LOT less time. Stan

Thank you for your feedback. I Did consider this back in the Spring I checked with my local place that I rent from and found out that they got a Burr up their butt and decided They were not going to Rent their equipment any longer. It's a local Ace Hardware . They get attitudes about things from time to time. The rental rates are about the same if it's near or far in this area so the $150 tractor plus trailer rental of $75.00 to $100.00 plus the rental of the attachments. So to rent the equipment and get it to my property is a bit expensive. They have this outlandish thing called half a rental but they set there half day at 3.5 hours. So by the time I would get things put in the condition that I would like them I would have at least 1.5 days if not 2 whole days invested so this could be close to $500 or more by the time I was done. As far as using this little tractor, I do Intend to use it extensively. Moving trailers and other things around. Dragging my drive way maybe pulling a sprayer. Also with the included mower I was going to use it to mow my property from time to time. Last but not least I do like the the fact that it is a peice of history and I like to fix and restore old equipment. In my youth I used to fix up old IH Farmalls and thank them to shows. So this would be.my first IH I have bought in 25 years so it's more than just making a working tractor. It getting back to something I wish I hadn't stoped doing in the first place.
I am not fixing this little guy to make money or a profit from it. I am fixing and making it mine because I want it for what it is. No plans of selling it any time innthe.next 25 years.
To all you who have been participating in this thread. Any one who has any parts that I could use please feel free to let me know thanks again.

Go for it! That's all the reasons that we do this sort of thing!!! Stan

With my reading and research I have found that there is a gear box that was made for the Cub's and some other tractors, I think it was a kubota 6000 or something like that. This gear box took the non standard reverse rotation and RPM and corrected that issue by reducing the RPM'S and reversing the rotation at the same time. It also went from the 10 spline PTO that the Cub's had to a standard 6 spline shaft. Befor I found out about this I was contemplating designing and building my own, I still my do so, depends upon if can finde one or not. So what my question is, dose.any one out there know where I can het one of these or dose any one out there have none that they may want to part with? If so I would ne interested.
Thanks.

JD made/had a gearbox that bolted to the rear of the differental and over the pto shaft that was used for powering a belly mower. This was on the 50 series yanmar made tractors that were sold in the 1980's. I can get a picture of one from my 850 if you're interested but since it's part of the 72 inch belly mower I don't want to part with it. Stan

Hub City made a reverser/reducer for the Cub. They are no longer made and are hard to find and can be expensive. If you use the search feature you can probably find some pictures and info about them.

unless you make your own,--- more than likely you will never find one! In all my years around tractors/equipment I have never seen a reverser box for anything!! SUPER hard to find I was told.
No valve on this 3-pt.,--- it uses a bar instead

The valve I was referring to is a diverter valve that is installed in the mid section of the tractor in place of the flare T fitting. It was, on some models I guess bit not all. It was used to divert hydrolic pressure from the deck lift cylinder to the 3pt cylinder. In my research I have noticed that this valve wasn't on every unit or model. I have looked at a lot of pictures of these tractors and I didn't see to many with the diverter valve. So its probably a rare item.
Thanks for the feedback.

It might be in the parts manual............. Stan

I think this might be what you're looking for: (from the 154 parts manual TC 131, Rev 8, 1-72). All the details about what models, SN, etc are there.
Also I highly recommend that if you are going to do any disassembly/repair/etc get a copy of the service manual GSS 1408--208 pages of total information on the subject.

Hello.

Just checking back with you about the creeper gear box. Have you ever considered selling one of them? I am still looking for one in any condition. Ether way pleas let me know. Thank you.

Hello.

Dose any one have a schematic drawing of the 154 Creeper gear box? Also do they sell all of the internal parts for the Creeper gear box? Sun gear and related parts. I found a lot of the parts randomly but I dont think I found all of them, sun gear being one of them. Any infor or help with this would be a big help.
