Covering blade

Postby Papa's Cub » Tue Mar 15, 2016 3:25 pm

I'm getting ready to plant and am mounting the 174 planter/fertilizer units under the cub. Last year I discovered a "covering blade" in the storage box but never figured out just what it was used for. [the garden turned out just fine] I've looked at Rudi's manuals above and am still confused. The first illustration/picture of the planter unit does not show a covering blade. A few pages down one is pictured mounted to the left side of the planter runner and I saw another illustration showing one as if it were used to cover fertilizer. I started to ignore it but decided to ask the forum for help. By the way, I plant flat on the ground in very sandy/dry soil. Thanks Guys, Tom.

I was hoping this mystery would be resolved this morning and someone could explain the intended purpose for this "covering blade". Oh well, I didn't use it last year and the garden turned out fine. I guess it's intended use is/was optional. Have a good day, Tom.

Lots of questions asked here every day. Don't expect all of them, especially the most obtuse, to be answered overnight. The covering blade is optional and used to cover fertilizer placed with a disk applicator. Choice and placement of fertilizer applicators depends on how you want to place fertilizer.
