A 140 At Last!!!
I had a hair brained idea this week. I have been wanting a 140 to bush hog with and I haven't had any luck around here. I was looking through auctions and I found one that had 2 140's for sale, but it was 170 miles away.
Well, last night, I decided to go for it and left at 5:00 this morning with my trailer in tow determined to bring one back.
As soon as I got there, I went over to the 140's and looked them over, then I decided to call Boss Hog and see what he thought. I was expecting a few comments and questions, but he ran these 140's through the ringer using me on the other end of the phone. He told me several things to look for and things to avoid. With his knowledge in hand, I decided which one I was going for and I was ready to bid all the way!!! (to the limit my wife set for me)
I got it for about 1/3rd what Boss said it would probably go for. I called him and he said I stole it. All I have to say is go to Kentucky if you want to find a really cheap tractor. They all went for about 1/2 what I thought they were going for.
It runs great and has a quiet transmission. I am going to get headlights for it, hopefully a fast hitch and a fast hitch bush hog. Aside from that, I am going to clean it up, change the fluids and run it.
Here are some preliminary pics.

Re: A 140 At Last!!!
Very nice!!! One thing I have noticed about a lot of the KY-TN 140's is they seldom have a fast hitch. Around here, 99% of them did. Also most of the later ones, I would say post-1970, ran 12.4-24 rear tires.
