I have one tractor with a metal front grill. Was this homemade? All others that I have seen are broken fiberglass. Thanks.

Yes, the whole outer housing is metal, no fiberglass. It doesn't look homemade but it must be. It looks like factory made.

Re: Metal Front Grill ?
The outer housing / grill surround is rather thick. They weren't using cast aluminum but there is metal. I remember buying my 154 and the owner was a professional bodywork technician ( yes technician ) He redid the grill surround because it had dents or something, with fiberglass. Then he painted it all up perfectly. This outer housing has withstood countless swipes across it with low hanging branches and still looks good.

I have a 154 with this same metal on it. I think someone made/sold a bunch of them from their shop!--they are pro made for sure.

Okay. Brush guard makes sense. Lots of insects and stuff wouldn't clog the grill mesh if the brush guard had a screen. I just thought the "cowl" was built rather strong. I've since seen many are broken or missing, so I need to protect it.

You wrote about bugs and grass...this was my solution to that problem, and it has been several years, and I have had no negative results. The little bungees tend to stretch, but they are cheap!

Hi, Dale. I remember that post from before I joined So yes, I did something like that. I think the brush guard will mount where the snow blade's fixture bolts are, so it will be a summer project.
