Maybe while I have the stuff out I'll see if it does stick to glass! Something to tinker with!
As I said, it's not that I am too cheap to fork over $5-10 for a new one...but, I do like a challenge!
I remember when it came to finishing my SA restoration, I came to the steering wheel, which had many cracks and some small chunks missing. I could buy a very nice repro for, I think, $25. Instead, I spent about 2 months between other tasks, filling, sanding, filling, sanding...etc. Probably had 5 times that much money just in time spent! But now, when I grab that steering wheel, I "feel" every one of those sanding strokes, as well as a big sense of accomplishment!!
I kinda agree except a failed steering wheel fix would rarely result in the cub catching on fire Could be a challenge putting the fire out though

Not to hijack this thread, Dale, but what you are probably feeling everytime you grab that steering wheel is actually called 'carpal tunnel syndrome' from all that sanding...
But I have mistaken that feeling for a sense of accomplishment many times myself.

Re: Glass sediment bowl repair?
Dale, as someone who's thrifty, I'd clean the bowl thoroughly with acetone, dry, then attach several layers of tape to the inside and outside of the bowl (being careful of the space to duplicate the rim), then mix up some two-part epoxy and pour it in. Let it completely cure, sand down to normal surface level and attach the bowl to a Cub for testing. Don't run the Cub, just let gas sit in there and test it over a week or more. Use brown or dark construction paper (or brown paper bag) laying underneath it to show any drops or leaks readily.
That's what I'd do. After that, if it leaked, pitch it. If not, you've got a useable bowl.

Berryman's Chem-Dip does a good job on glass, too.

Half a tube of silicone sealer would probably stop the leaking....

Would you please give me more details. My brother took the sediment bowl off my gas tank on my Super C and "misplaced" it.
I'd really like to go back with something like you're talking about.

Here's one from the HOW TO Forum: viewtopic.php?f=139&t=45857 You can also buy a replacement bowl from the "real" auto parts supply, i.e. NAPA

Remove the entire sediment bowl fixture from the fuel tank. Replace with ball valve and fittings from hardware store.Hairy Moose Knuckles wrote:Would you please give me more details. I use "rubber" gas line hose and a gravity feed fuel filter. Have replaced the sediment bowl on most tractors and all Cub Cadets.
Advantages; positive fuel shut off, easy fuel turn on and off, easy fuel filter replacement. Disadvantage, perhaps a fire hazard if fuel line comes in contact with exhaust manifold.
I have an excuse. CRS.
