Splitting Stand Kit
Just received the HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE from Steiner, and this splitting stand kit was in there. A bit pricey for my budget, but interesting...

That is pretty cool. Way pricey, lol. I guess if you were in the business of working on tractors it would be justifiable though.

Re: Splitting Stand Kit
Reminds me of some of the video I've seen from the Farmall Plant when they were building 1066s and similar There's one scene where they are joining the engine to the clutch housing and they roll them together so fast that they sorta bounce when they touch!

I also seen that splitting stand. I didn't look at the price as I was sure it was above any budget I could set.

for a row crop (narrow front) it would need outriggers.

I am trying to figure out how I want to split a tractor, one is already split, but I want to stick the front half from another cub on ole bug eyes. with no concrete it becomes interesting
better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...( YES this includes CUBS! )

Yep, John has a nice "shed". Unfortunately he built it in the wrong spot. It needed to be built a few miles east of his place. Where it's located at now, makes it very inconvenient for me.

Re: Splitting Stand Kit
I have enough steel to make this or factor it in with a large swing set type a frame.
I want to disassemble my fcub to the last nut and bolt. That’s a restoration. Do it once and forget about it, but once my fcub is done what do I do with the steel work? Open on one end so tractors/ cars can be driven in and out. I wonder if I poured a cement slab and built a small barn around the steel work. Thoughts?
I’m thinking a steel structure with three Dolly’s with 12v winches. Plus the track on the floor. Break the fcub down to the last bolt all supported no lifting.
At my old place my 148’ x 24’ addition had insulated floor and walls plus ceiling. My toploader wood stove heated it, even the floor. Tee shirt inside with snow outside. The doors were r15.

Re: Splitting Stand Kit
Reads like you had it knocked for a long time. Fwiw; I built a hoist out of mostly discarded steel. "C" channel steel beams, when welded together, allowed heavy sched pipe fit inside as legs. Different positions for those legs with welded castors so one could be short or longer for getting around things. The boom which becomes the ram was actuated by a long acme screw thread, so it could extend or retract while the base remained in place.
The lift was a generic hydraulic unit and it failed when it was freezing in the garage. I had enough stuff to fix it dead middle of night. But that is actually Normal. If isn't normal at times, we are losing our grip.
It is so cool to not be alone.

Re: Splitting Stand Kit
When I built my orginal monster garage at my old house I insulated the 6” floor, insulated the walls and ceiling plus 5/8” sheet rock. Plus r15 9’x9’ doors. It was 24’ x 28’ with a 10’ ceiling. The middle of winter with the woodstove was tee shirt weather. Even the floor was warm to lay on.
Insulated floor, 1” foam sheets.
