Here's a couple pictures for you guys. I planned a few hours of maintenance, full tune up and carb rebuild. That quickly turned into about 3 days. They had everything wired as negative ground and a 12v battery in it. Surprised something didn't burn up. How they were running it that way I have no idea. Was only hitting on 2.
Notice that custom wheel that was included on the front.....

Something looks out of whack with the sickle bar mower. The top shouldn’t be leaning that far forward. Maybe it’s just the photo angle.

I'll take another one from straight on, Don. I have it chained up pretty tight. Maybe that's got things tweaked out. I'll get a couple more pictures up.

Doesn't appear to be the picture angle. Looks like it's too far forward.

Drag bar is homemade and the stay rod is a piece of chain. Could be twisting the whole thing forward.

The drag bar is homemade. The chain you see is just laying there. Apparently the stay rod was never put on when the drag bar was made.

Re: New To Me 54 Cub Pictures and Thoughts
Perhaps the mower is loose where it hinges. Sorry, can’t recall it’s name, but the big odd shaped cast piece that holds the hinge pin. It is threaded and held in place with a bolt. Perhaps that bolt is loose causing it to move forward.
Also, what’s wrong with 12V neg ground? Looks like it has been changed to 12V lights. Perhaps it has a 12V conversion? I see regulator, is there a 12V generator?

Nice looking purchase. I get it, they don't want you using that mower until you've had time to check that it's safe, but hey you spent a few days tweeking the tractor not the C22.
Still a good looking tractor. I'm sure you'll adress the issues mentioned before putting it to work. My C22 hasn't seen daylight in 20+yrs, just collecting dust andd rust in the corner of my garage. Maybe when l get my newest one up and running good enough to work l'll find a field to mow and dust it off.

Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over.

Re: New To Me 54 Cub Pictures and Thoughts
Hi,
The mower bar is set too far down at the front. The front of the mower guards is down too far, and the inner and outer shoes are too far down at the front also.
The bottoms of the guards should be level on the ground, so the front of the guards don't dig in the ground.
There is a bar angle adjustment bolt, it looks like it has been replaced with a long bolt.
Below is a pic from TM Tractor of the bolt, it is below the crank nut on the hold up rod.
The original is a carriage bolt, I think. The hole is made so it has several positions to set the angle of the bar at.
The casting might be tight on the round bar, grease the grease fitting in the pic, and try to work it loose.
