removing vin plate
I have a late 57 Cub that the vin plate has been torn up by the cultivators. I van only read the last numbers (4379). I think that it is a late 57 because the casting numbers on the block are 2/14/O. How can I remove the plate? Can the rivets be pulled out? How?

Re: removing vin plate
the rivets are brass and shaped like a nail, I get them out some times with a good putty knife, it will slide behind the tag and if you are lucky you can work them out, or just drill them out and install new rivets

1957 Farmall Cub S/N range is 198231 - 204388. Casting Code for 1957 is "C". "O" is 1968. This assumes a "standard" Farmall/International Cub, not an International Cub LoBoy.
Check out these links to TM Tractor;

Take a look at the casting codes on all the major castings and you should be able to confirm that it is a 1957. Then you can either buy a new S/N plate and stamp the S/N on it or re-stamp your plate.

Re: removing vin plate
The casting date must be a "C" not "O" , with the screw heads in the way it looks like an O. That would make it Feb 14 1958, only 9 tractors from the end of 57 production. Thanks
Still no luck removing the rivets. I bought a new plate from TM with new rivets.

Re: removing vin plate
When I removed my s/n plate I first hit the rivets with the end of a flat punch to make a flat surface. then i used a center punch to mark a spot in the center of the head and used a 1/8" drill to drill into the head of the rivet until i got to the shaft. I think the shaft of these rivets is 1/8". after doing that to all 4, the heads of the 4 rivets are gone the plate comes right off. I didn't want to use a bigger drill to damage the number plate or make the holes in the plate bigger than they already were. Then i continued to drill into the front bolster until the rivets were gone. Don't drill all the way through you don't want water leaking out behind the plate! I think the rivets were 1/4" long. The 1/8" copper rivets I had were just a slight bit under 1/8" (.123) so i flattened them with a ball peen hammer before i put the number plate back on so they'd be snug. THere's no force on that plate so just a little snugness will hold the rivets fast. I used the same rivets for the generator plate.
