Cole #12 planter

Postby Slim140 » Fri Mar 02, 2018 7:35 am

I been looking for a decent 1 row planter but didn't want to put a lot of money in one. We have a 2 row but it would be nice to have a 1 row for small things like the garden or deer plots. My wife ask me to take a basket of goodies to a friend yesterday who recently got home after breaking her hip. Her husband buys and sells anything. I was talking to him in their kitchen and looking out the window at all his merchandise and saw a corn planter in the shed. I ask was it for sell and he said yeah, ask him what he wanted for it and it was way less than I would have thought and long story short it was in the back of the truck in no time. It has 4 seed plates and 3 extra gears with it. I'm gonna take it apart and paint it and get it right. I need to make a fast hitch on it for use with the Cub. Anybody have a Cole one row with FH I can see some pictures of?

Don't look to close in the first picture at the toolbox on the truck, it has a weld seam in the middle where I cut 9" out of it and welded it back together cause it fit a full size truck and now it fits a small truck

Found pictures of a hitch. I remembered my brother has one of these planters for his 140.

Started unbolting today. I’ll get dimensions of the FH spike in a day or two. The only thing really wrong with this planter is the fertilizer cutoff band is rotten. Guess I’ll make one out of stainless.

Test fit the fast hitch prong and got the rest ready for burn, blast & powdercoat. Also found a piece of stainless sheet metal to make the fertilizer ring out of.
