Just finished with the older daughter's Christmas train. I don't have pics. yet, so i thought I'd show you all the one I built for the younger daughter back in 2013. These were taken before the decals were put on. It's called; CATAWBA CENTRAL & NORTH POLE EXPRESS
I'll put a couple interior shots in another post.

Re: Christmas train
What scale is it?
About 1/12; I scaled it up from one of those cheap plastic battery Christmas trains, so it isn't real accurate, especially the track gauge. Also some sizing was done to best accommodate space and wood usage. This is also true of the one I built this year, except it was scaled from various HO gauge trains.
Berlin; What else would you like to know? I'm more then happy to share.

Re: Christmas train
Is it fir a child or grandchild or just for your enjoyment , and how will it be displayed, is the engine capable of moving the train. It obviously represents a lot of time involved in the project . Thanks, I'm just intrigued with such a large project and I commend you for it.

Berlin:
This one, the 2013 version was for my youngest daughter, and the one I just finished is for my oldest daughter and her boys. (pictures coming soon) They are outdoor decorations and have lights in or around them, including inside the engine boiler. The over all length of the assembled trains is about 16 foot each, give or take a foot. The cars are about 9 1/2 inches wide and the track gauge is about 5 3/4 inch inside. No the engine will not pull the train.
I had built a much larger one for myself many years ago which I had powered, but I couldn't keep it on the tracks. I had intended to get it working, but I kept adding lights and the electric bill got to high to add an electric motor to run the train.

Re: Christmas train
Here's a few pics of the train hard at work.
They didn't seem that dark when I took them, but when you click on the dark one you can see the train.
