New shop, finally!
I have been without a shop, for the past 2 years, after a fire wiped out the house and shop. I finally decided on a 40 foot "high cube" shipping container, 9 1/2 feet high. I installed a 20 foot "I" beam on the ceiling, for lifting, with 2 chain falls and trollies. A propane "garage heater", provises heat. It has LED 4 foot fluorescent type shop lights. Floor is carpeted, for noise reduction. (If I dropped a tool, while installing the lights, I think Barnyard could hear it.). (Carpeting was free, my wife put a request in, on the "telawoman network".) WIll eventually have 3 windows, but probably not this fall. Reason for not building a shop, I don't want to pay taxes on it. Container is not a taxable structure, here. Still a lot of "stuff" to do, inside, but my first cub repair will probably happen this weekend. Sorry, no pictures, I don't post pictures.

Re: New shop, finally!
Congrats on the new shop. Glad to hear that you are back in business. Being with out a place to work would be a really bad spot to be in..
Shipping containers are the Bomb.. I Love them, and wish I had another one, to keep my nicer tractors in.
I few years ago, I bought a 20 footer, and a year or so later, when the cash was available I got another 20 footer. I spaced them at the correct distance so that when I had the extra cash, I could by one of the Pre-Fab car ports and place in between them.
I covered the car port with tin, fit some used storm windows in the sought end for light, and tied it down, to the shipping containers.
As money became available I made doors for the north end and put lighting in it. Still has a rock floor in it, and hope to put concrete in some day..
The only part I regret was that i did not do this with 40 footers, instead of the 20's.

For anyone considering using shipping containers for shop space or just storage, I recommend getting containers with doors at both ends. You will never regret it.

I didn’t know that some of them had doors in both ends, that would be slick. I’m happy for you, with the new facilities, Ed.

Re: New shop, finally!
I have a 40ft high cube, I am still organizing it. I wish it had windows for light. I am a bit far from power so no lights yet.
for those of you storing vehicles in them I will share is that they should be well ventilated.

better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...( YES this includes CUBS! )
