New Additions to the Farm
As some already know, wife and I retired at the end of 2017 and moved back to her family's farm here in SC. The farm was originally a land great from the King of England (we are told), and survived the Civil war. We've been remodeling the house since moving down, but I also had time for a couple of other additions.
One is a tractor with which I can do the heavy work. It's a Mahindra 5035 (2012 with 175 hours), 50 HP, 4 wheel drive, hydrostat. At least it's red. So far it has been earning it's keep.
The other is a new tractor house. Essentially a pole barn covered in metal, with lean-to's on both sides. The enclosed portion is 40 x 50, with a 10' porch, and then two 16' x 50' lean-to's. Now to get it electrified.

Great looking barn Rick. Is it big enough?

They never are.
Everything looks great, Rick!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

That is nice! You'll be able to get a lot of machinery, equipment and "stuff" in and around that barn. Congrats on the new Mahindra; heard they're good tractors.

Re: New Additions to the Farm
Rick, I love it! I may be in touch with you to get info on your new "BOB" (Big Ole Barn!). Not sure I could talk my sister into one quite that nice, but she's an architect and has even made some sketches for one at our place! I especially like the lean-to's.
It's past time for a NC/SC CubFest!!
When can we expect the invitations?!

Re: New Additions to the Farm
Rick, it looks great! is that one of those barns that uses the metal trusses 10-12' apart? I have aspirations of a shop about that size, "one of these days!"

Re: New Additions to the Farm
That looks like a great, well thought out building, should give you years of enjoyment! I hope you get it wired faster than I did with mine, which I finally finished this summer. Several years of running extension cords isn't fun! Nice tractor, looks like a good size for your needs. I have been keeping an eye out for a 30-something HP Kubota loader tractor, but are in high demand around me. Can't bring myself to buy new and good, used ones are getting premium prices. The dealer said the used market is at an all-time low. I hope patience pays off!
Congratulations on the additions and glad you're enjoying your retirement!

You should have seen my wife's face when we stood among the poles, just after they had been placed, and I told her "I didn't build it big enough". I hope to use the barn to control my "acquiring" habit, just like my closet controls how many clothes I own. But I already think I'm going to have some tough decisions ahead about how the space gets used.....
