What was your first tractor experience (does not have to be a Farmall or Cub)?
Robyn and my youngest daughter pooled their spare change and secretly bought the 1947 Circle Cub from a man (sight unseen) who lived about 30 minutes away. She found him listing the Cub on TractorHouse.com, called him up and made the deal. That was early Spring. On Father's Day, 2009, I'm washing my truck in the driveway and out she comes with the camera and sits on the front porch step, something she never does. I started asking her questions about what's going on and she gives me these coy answers, which are no answers at all. At the end of the washing, she encouraged me to "hurry up and take your shower." After my shower, I'm sitting on the bed putting on my shoes and I hear (from outside) VOOUUUMMMMMMMM. The seller had delivered it while I was in the shower and was driving it off the trailer---I couldn't tie my shoes fast enough!!! What a surprise! My birthday is the following week, so this was my birthday gift. What a gift!!
What is your Cub's primary work? Gardening and show events.
What is the favorite Cub of all which you have owned and why? My '47, for the reason explained above. A great gift from my wonderful wife and daughter.
What first sparked your interest in owning a Cub? I attended a couple tractor shows before owning a Cub and thought a small tractor might be fun someday. It was Robyn who fell in love with the Cub. She said it was "cute." Hence, I've been Cub-oriented since and have a great appreciation for them.
What task/use of your Cub provides the most enjoyable seat time? Probably driving down the road, closely followed by plowing.
Favorite thing you like about Cub's and Cadets? It's a piece of history that connects me to the previous generation.
Describe your most satisfying or frustrating experience working on your own or someone else's Cub? Most satisfied experience would be after re-assembly and hearing the engine roar to life. Most frustrating would be finding and fixing gasoline leaks.
Do you host or participate in CubFests, Cubarama, Mini-CubFests? How so? Only attended the Kansas CubFest. Great time. Hope to attend more soon.
