What happened at work today.

Postby Slim140 » Tue Jan 02, 2018 12:45 pm

I work in a machine shop and do some random stuff and some not so random. Thought I’d share some here. This piece is off a 2 seater glider my wife and I bought at an estate sale about 5 years ago and I’m just now trying to fix it. I hope to have it done by her birthday this year. That gives me 8 months. Had some old pipe with a bend which is what I been needing. I mashed it flat in the arbor press and here we go. Both sides have been welded on and this is the first one.

2 winters ago I built a gooseneck hitch for our truck since my boss gave me some materials. At the time we didn't even have a gooseneck trailer. I've had a turnover ball before and never kept the ball in because it was to hard to get out with the dirt in it. I made this one to come out but I keep it in the tool box. I engraved some plates with Nelson Welding on them and capped the tubing, that's not the name of my work but I do some welding on the side :D

Got the bed back on and ordered a round shank ball and made it to fit my tubing then had it zinc plated.

Wanted some wheel to wheel steps but didn't want to pay $400+ for them so made them as well.

Our son had a plastic trailer and it rotted. I had it in my hand going to through it in the dumpster and figured I could use the axles and make him a new one.

Do you ever do any revenue producing projects at work?

Just kidding. On a serious note, you do outstanding work. I wish you were my neighbor. :D

Yes Don, haha. I do this stuff while the 3 axis milling machine is running. As long as it is running my boss lets me do what I want. I am blessed :D

Hah, I thought that little trailer was much larger until I saw the can of Mountain Dew on it. Excellent work!
