Ross steering box

Postby Rusty red » Fri Jun 16, 2023 1:55 pm

I installed new bearings in my steering box and reinstalled it on the tractor. I realize why it had so much travel in the steering. I only found pieces of the bearing cages, and maybe enough balls to make one bearing. The races were the only parts that were in place.
No that I have it back on the tractor how much end play should the bearings have? And do you grease it yntil it come out of the plug?

None. It's better to complete all of the repairs on the bench.

Full of grease.
I have an excuse. CRS.
