Pto stays in gaged

Postby Sirlandslide88 » Fri May 19, 2023 5:33 pm

Since I have gotten my 154 I have noticed that after I get done mowing the pto stays in gaged after I disengage it. I really can't see myself spending $500. on a new one from hamiltonbobs, it's just out of the cards. Any other ideas on how I can fix this issue?

This tells a bit about what I did to convert to electric PTO. Has been working for a few years now. You only have PTO to drive a belt after converting.

PTO uses a cam to engage and release the clutch. You need to remove the sheet metal to get to the PTO clutch and see what is going on.

Guessing, inexpensive fix. - - That's not counting the man hours.
I have an excuse. CRS.

The tin is removed, after I'm done mowing I noticed that the pto clutch is very hot and smoking. Clutch needs adjusted or rebuilt? Also their is a grease fitting on the shaft, is that for the bearing or clutch?

Clutch is not greased. PTO assembly, 4 bearings including two on the cam clutch. I didn't remember any of the bearings having grease zerks.

Checked the parts books. No zerks shown. Sealed bearings.

Hot and smoking, guessing one or two bad bearings. You will need to disassemble the PTO to find out.
