Re: 154 PTO clutch rebuild
Been years since I worked on my 154's PTO clutch. So, no words of wisdom. Basically, I just cleaned it up and reassembled.
I disassembled, then removed the burs on cup assembly. Removed the burs on the friction disks and turned the friction discs around.
Spring washers, I would put them back in the same direction they came out.

I have an excuse. CRS.

The service manual (GSS-1408) only shows a graphic on page 8-8 and says install the wave springs as shown. The graphic looks like they are shown () or )( There are some measurements in the manual to take once assembled. I assume if assembled wrong, it will not meet the specification.
The parts manual (TC-131) shows a graphic on page 7-12 with much more content in it so it is a smaller graphic. No details in the parts manual so I'd go with the service manual graphic and text.

Re: 154 PTO clutch rebuild
IF you put the waves the wrong direction,----- you will know it cause you cant get the clutch together. then take it apart and reverse them and it will fit. I went thru that on one of my 185's and it was a nightmare to get set right. I had to put a couple of the old washers in mine PLUS all of the new ones from the kit so its different on each one.
The kit I got from IH had the complete directions in it but I cant find it now,--may have tossed it out after I got done. this was many years ago when I did mine.
I know I will never do another one after that ordeal! lol!
