Question on Woods mower kit for number series..

Postby MikeEyre74 » Wed Aug 28, 2019 11:52 am

I have a chance to buy a Woods mower deck at very good price for my number series machine. The seller is even going to deliver it for what I consider a fantastic deal. It appears to be fully intact except for one thing… In looking at the parts breakdown, the only thing I don’t see in the photos that he sent me is the “three point bracket kit”. Here is a link to a diagram of the parts:

https://store.germanbliss.com/woods-59l ... mbly-parts

In part number 17 in the parts list underneath the photo there, it lists a couple of plates and some hardware to hold them together. I assume that this takes the place of the built in bracket on the drawbar of my IH factory setup? Is this true? Is there anything else that I should take into consideration when purchasing this mower deck? I do have a three point hitch, yes.

A smokin' deal doesn't come around often. Bandsaw and drill press could do those brackets ( 17 18 19 ) Up to you. Pull behind is a whole different thing but perhaps it came at the right time. Good luck either way, Mike.

I wouldn't let that slow me down much on a "fantastic deal". Flat stock parts are not difficult to duplicate. The picture almost looks like the bracket at the bottom of the loboy where the 3-point arms attach to the tractor. The 3-point lift arm pin looks exactly like the one on the tractor.

Also, notice the wheel spacers that are required if you have the 13-6-16 turf tires.

$120 for a complete setup is the deal. I think that’s pretty fantastic. And he’s gonna deliver it. I just don’t think the 3pt will work without the “kit”... I believe that’s what locates the bottom of the piston, now that I’ve researched it a bit.

Mike,
You are right that the "kit" is needed in order to mount the bottom pin of the 3-pt piston. But those parts can be easily made.

At that price, a machine shop can make the parts you need and you still have not spent the typical price for this mower deck.
A machine shop can either work from a drawing or duplicate a part in hand from another tractor.

All for naught! The standard for the day "we have a deal!" But... Then the guy doesn't respond and it's now marked as sold. My bad for not getting there sooner.... But alas, I could not arrange a truck soon enough. Rats.

DANG!! The one that got away. On the bright side, we are sliding into winter. Perhaps the decks come off for snow plows and need some work. Maybe get lucky on craigslist soon.
