Cub cadet seller rant.

Postby BigBill » Fri Jun 25, 2021 2:37 pm

This happened a while back. I neighbor told me his buddy who’s moving wanted to sell a cub cadet 129 hydro, and another one all apart. He had a tiller, mower, snow thrower plus some parts.
Everything was beatup and the 129 didn’t run. Broken shifter handle. I offered $350 being modest. Everything needs fixing, The seller chewed me a new one, he thinks he has gold. I walked away.

A week later the guy shows up saying he’d sold the house. he’d take $350. I turned it down because of the way he acted towards me.

Do you think I did the right thing? I can bring the dead back to life but everything is broken. Plus he was low balled on the house, he was worried about the price on the tractor, odd he sold the house cheap.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

If someone doesn't like your offer, then can easily say no without being rude about it. If he had returned and offered it for $250, you might have reconsidered.....

I like having the extra parts but he ran everything into the ground. If we look at cadets today some prices for non running cadets are through the roof. I have a complete int154 and some fcub parts on shelves.

Note, a while back I picked up some wheel weights the kid sold me a early narrow frame 10 hp Kohler with them. He told me the compression relief setup maybe stuck, I knew right away stuck valve. Food for thought.

I thought of low balling my offer but he’s a good friend of my neighbor. Plus all that stuff to move.

I don’t mind paying if it’s a running cadet. In the beginning I paid $400 for a cadet 122 with a new factory Kohler 12 hp engine in it, about 13 years later it’s still running like new.

If you really think about it, by not purchasing you have just provided this individual with an opportunity to stress about getting rid of the stuff and a chance to reflect upon how he treats people.
If you had purchased the items, the stress would have been relieved and he wouldn't have the chance to become a better human.

Thank you for passing and hopefully helping this person with some personal improvement.
