H Fan belt adjustment

Postby howhow1 » Thu Aug 28, 2014 6:24 am

How do you adjust / replace the fan belt on a '42 H?
I couldn't find anything in the manual - ??did I miss something??
it looks like there is a nut/screw on the fan hub/housing

There's a set screw with lock nut on the collar. Loosen and unscrew the retainer ring which is the front part of the pulley (the pulley is a split pulley). By loosening that, the belt will slip down relieving tension and enabling you to slip it off over the front portion of the pulley and fan blades. If stuck, you may have to use some penetrate oil to loosen; they're fine threads.

Rudi's got the Parts Catalog here: http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub/H%20-% ... index.html

But you'll need to go to Jensales.com or another site that sells tractor manuals to acquire the Owner's Manual. They're not too expensive.
