A60 grader/snow blade

Postby VAfarmallguy87 » Sat Oct 09, 2021 8:42 am

Howdy folks! I am curious as to whether anyone has taken on the task of building an identical frame and lifting levers from scratch for a grader blade similar to the a60? I am new here and if this has been covered I haven't found it yet so if anyone knows of any posts about this I'd appreciate the links to it. In my area I can't find any of the grader blades. When I got my 48 SA at auction I ended up letting the a60 go to another bidder and am kicking myself now. I have a ford jubilee and use it to push snow but it needs a rebuild and would like the SA to take on snow duty this winter while I am tearing into my ford.

I would think the first gen version that didn’t use a pressure spring lift would be easier to replicate.
Shame we’re several states away, if you were in NJ I’d loan you one of mine to use as a template to copy from.
I’ve seen that happen at auctions where they split the tractor from the implements into separate lots. You got the better half of it though and I’ll bet parts, important parts ;) of that blade assembly were left hanging on your tractor.
The rockshaft extension bar, a “J” shaped piece is often left on the tractor and is usually missing from most assemblies you’ll find. That’s a hard piece to track down. How much else was left hanging on the tractor ? The more there is the easier time you’ll have in finding a plow to meet your needs plus if you find a plow for sale missing half it’s parts (hopefully you have) you’ll pay a fraction of what a complete setup would sell for.

Lt.Mike, unfortunately there were no parts left on my tractor. The sellers were very involved with the sale and had everything laid out with its proper components. I would be starting from scratch. All I really need is the dimensions of the frame. I can fabricate it just with that and a few lifting rod measurements and the manual pictures. If it's an easy job to build(which more than likely will be since I'm a welder/fabricator by trade), I might build a few to sell to make some side money. I do have a 3 point 5ft scraper blade that I don't put on my ford any more that I plan to use for my blade. I will just remove the 3 point hitch part of it and go from there.

When I get my 100 and A60 back home I can send pictures of it with dimensions if that would help. Ended up I got mine out of Wisconsin. Called a shooting friend, who called another mutual shooting friend, he picked it up and drove it back to NRA Nationals at Camp Atterbury where my friend who is helping me do the 100 restoration picked it up. Darn things (A60s) are hard to find that is for sure. JP Salvage had one back in July/August I know maybe give them a call.

I believe I shared a copy of the manual I have to the server . If you can’t find it let me know.
Also one thing to note is the height of the lower hanger under the bolster it has two settings and with the wrong one the blade will rub the tire when turning with the blade canted. I have all that in an older post. I’ll dig up the link.
Edit; this might help in some way...

They have the lifting lever and bow shaped frame for the plow. If your going to fabricate a plow those would probably be the most difficult to reproduce. The J shaped bell crank extension seems easy but there are cutouts in it that need to be right. ;)

I had 4 made because mine a60 did not have one. There is a print I posted but like I said I have 3 extra.

That'll be excellent! I have a few projects to wrap up that I'm building for family and friends in my shop. So it'll probably be at least 2 weeks before I get those done. Then I have to clean the shop. So it'll probably be 3 weeks at the least before I'm ready to start. I'm not going to rush into it either. I am researching anything I can. And from what I've seen on here I need to pay attention to a few key positions to make sure I don't have any interferences with clearances on the tractor. I love this forum because there are so many people willing to reach out and give information. Thanks again everybody!

when I went back to the last one someone left a comment it was a modified jd to fit on A-140

Here is another one

Cheaper to find a tractor with one on it.
