International 140 Engine Manual

Postby fitzchavis » Mon Apr 19, 2021 9:06 am

1. How can I find out the engine number on my 140 tractor? I have a service manual which references a C-123, C-135, C-146 & C-153.
2. Are there engine manuals on the farmallcub.com website?

There is a service manual in the pdf manual section for the A & B.

Your engine serial number is on a machined pad right where the head meets the block by the distributer / magneto!

the 140 engine manual was printed separate from the rest of the tractor, so it one for chassis and one for engine

The engine in the 140 is the c_123 which is different from the a, super a and 100
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

The super A1, 100, 130 and the 140 all have a c123 engine.

So does the super C, 200, 230, and 240.

The A, super A, B / BN and the C have the c113.

The 113 (3" bore) and the 123 (3.125" bore) are basicly the same with the exception of the pistons and sleeves!

The C-123 as used in the 140 and 240 has a lot of differences from the earlier engines. I'd be sure to use the right repair manual. A manual that includes the C-135 etc. should be the correct one for a 140.

These may seem fairly minor, but most have an effect on service procedures.

New water pump mounted to the front of the engine block. This eliminated the fan hub with the built-in oil reservoir. It required addition of a block drain for coolant.

The 2 belt system was changed to a single belt, tensioned at the generator.

Timing mark moved from flywheel to front pulley.

Oil filler moved to the governor housing. This kind-of goes along with the dipstick.

I do not think the one you have is there!

Maybe someone can clue you in on a way to add a copy of yours!

Thank you!

This is very important. I have a 130 and two 140 and all of the engines have small differences.

General Gear has a service manual for the T4 through TD5 crawlers. It is huge -- 320 pages. The first 90 pages covers gas engines, including the later C-123.
