New cub owner

Postby CraigC. » Wed May 03, 2023 7:33 pm

My wife and I went pick up 2 cubs not running. 1st one is a ‘69 and needed a battery, and condenser to make the Maiden Voyage around the yard. We changed those parts and as soon as I seen spark we put some fresh gas in the tank hit the starter switch and it seemed like it never made a complete revolution and she was purring, we were High Fiving.

The second is a ‘75 and haven’t had time to fool with it. One thing is the ‘75 transmission is much quieter than the ‘69 which is pouring oil out left side drive shaft seal. Haven’t had time to drain the trans to see if it’s filled with water.

Welcome!
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Welcome to the forum, Craig! If oil is pouring out of that seal, it will probably be full of water. The oil level is supposed to be well below that seal.

Craig,
Welcome to the forum.

You just missed the Louisiana CubFest in Bogalusa, LA at the end of March.

Make sure you have oil pressure before you run the engines for any length of time.

Thanks, hopefully it doesn’t have any more issues in there. I have no experience with cubs, this is our 1st.
