New owner from SC
Hi. I was just given an International 184 from a neighbor. I haven't moved it yet but hope to in the next week. The tractor has not been used in 4 years. It has a woods belly mower on it. My neighbor says the mower worked when he parked it but it would lose power going up hill. I'm hoping it is not too serious. I plan on starting with cleaning the carburetor and checking the points. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: New owner from SC
Welcome to the Forum. Your new to you 184 could be suffering from needing a complete tuneup. After 4 years of not being used you may have problems with sticking valves. That's a fairly common problem with an engine that has not been used regularly. I suggest a compression check to see if you're loosing compression, anything below 85-90 might indicate some engine work needed to correct it. Also inspect the mower for any abnormal loading like bearings, belts, etc that could be robbing power. Just remember that in peak condition the 184 does not have any HP to spare. Most of the information on this forum that is engine related will apply to your tractor since it uses the same IH C60 engine. One more post and you can access/download the manuals at the Quick links tab, upper left corner of this page. Congratulations on you new ride, the price is certainly right!!!

Looks like you are in the Lexington, almost Irmo area? I am south of Lake City. Let me know if you need any help, we could probably work something out.

Re: New owner from SC
Thanks for the replies. I will look into the info on priming the oil pump. So far my neighbor is wanting to push the tractor onto a trailer which would be downhill from where it's located. Hope our backs can hold up to that! If not, he has a 50hp MF that we can use to get her on the trailer.
And I may be needing your help from Lake City. I'm in Fairfield County so I think it's around 2 hours to Lake City. All let ya know!
