New member from N. Florida

Hello all,

Looking to take ownership of my first Farmall (first tractor period) in the next week or so. Spent about a year or more researching what I needed and wanted. Once I settled on the Cub, I was hoping to find a late 40's or early 50's model but the cards didn't swing that way. So I'll be picking up a 70s model instead. At least I get the benefit of a few extra HP, so that's a good thing.

Looking forward to the activity here and hoping to hear more about any activities in my area.

Welcome to the forum. You have found the best source of information on these small wonders that just keep on running. Watch for a cubfest within your driving range. You will have a great time and learn so much.

In case you didn't know after your 2nd post you can access the parts and repair manuals in PDF format. Others can explain easy way to get there and it has many different IH tractors, implements and even non IH implements but work with Farmall tractors. As I was saying... Others can explain it better cuz I just click on top left thingamabob then click on the thingy on the right popped up thingamabob, then keep clicking till I get to the pdf I'm looking for. But I'm pretty sure that doesn't help newbies much so I'll shut up now

After you’ve logged your 2nd post on the Forum, you'll have access to the all the PDF Manuals on this site. There’s a few ways to do that:

• From a desktop or laptop, go to "Quick Links" in the upper left corner of your screen. Hit that and a pull-down appears where you'll find "PDF Manuals".
• You can also go to “Cub Info” in the upper toolbar, then hit “Rudi’s Manuals”. From there, you can access a variety of information.
• If you're using a phone, go to the "Links Directory" (second category down the main page). Once in "Links Directory" , scroll down to the second section "Tractor Parts & Manuals" and you'll find them there.

You'll be able to download an Owner's Manual (very strongly recommended) and any service manuals that interest you. Implement Manuals are also available.

Take some pictures of your tractor and post them, we’d like to see them.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I do have 2 questions.

First, when did the Cub go to key start AND 12v? The Cub I'm looking at seems to have key start and there is a 12v battery currently on it. I need to see it start and run though to be sure it's 12v.

Also, if some of you have been to DSCF in recent years and knew Mr. Roy personally, would you DM me? I have a couple questions.

My HOA isn't gonna let me get away with having more than 1! And that's probably a good thing. I know it will be for my wallet!

The key start was added later, during 1972, at serial number 239827.

The Longstripe Cubs began at serial number 248125, and have a Delco alternator, and a Zenith carburetor.
Cubs before then have generators.
They call them Longstripe Cubs on here because of the long stripes on the sides of the hood.

I could post an operator's manual for it, but you didn't say the year it is.
The operator's manual has much info. They suggest on here that everyone read one for the year closest to when your Cub was made.
The Longstripe Cubs have an operator's manual for them, it says in it it is made for Cubs serial numbers 248125 and above.

Thanks Glen. I've learned much since I posted this initial thread.

In fact, I bought the club and today is it's second work day. I'm doing some light work to develop familiarity with it and so far so good. It's a 1975 with the 12v generator and key start. I'll pick up both an owners manual and service manual for it. I already know I am going to need to re-wire it. Everything works but the lights, but those wires are original to the tractor and are looking rather tired. engine oil looks good, but I'll get into the rest of the fluids next week or maybe this weekend if I'm up for it.

Appreciate all the helpful folks here chiming in to assist. Been a welcome comfort the past week!
