I am deepely saddened by this news...although Pete and I had not had the opportunity to meet in person, we frequently communicated about the possibility of making it happen. We had so much in common and enjoyed exchanging information about our love for our old Cubs, gardening, the weather, our families...we just simply hit it off and right now, my heart is breaking for you and your family. While Pete and I never looked each other in the eye or had the good fortune to shake hands, your husband shared with me a window to his strong character and soul through his many posts and private messages on this forum, and through many telephone conversations we enjoyed over the last year. A fine man.

Mrs barbara, i am shocked to hear this news. i guess i was the only one to meet you and pete face to face. you could tell pete was proud of his pretty bride . i thought very highly of "general pete". our prayers go out to your family and if there is anything i can do for you please ask. 2008 has been a tough year for me i've lost 3 uncles a stepdad and a good friend in Pete.
