Gary, I've heard about the torque converter in the TH 400's. My 4x4 feels literally like it shifts 3 times. Meaning it feels like it had 4 gears, you start in first then shifts 3 times (1+3=4). But that didn't happen till later and it would have been a 700r4 which the early 700's couldn't take the abuse or higher HP/torque of a 1 ton like my 1985 4x4.
