My inherited 1951 Farmall Cub

Postby AllenB » Wed Aug 03, 2016 10:51 pm

This project has been 4 years in the making. It has been quite a while since I posted on this forum and starting and stopping work but the cub is finally running. Since it's been a while. This tractor was inherited from my Father-in-law in 2012. I'm not sure which family member he got it from, but it has been in the family since it was purchased in 1951. It had sat for 3 years before I got it and what I was hoping was simple, turned into complex. The head gasket was blown and with no exhaust system and sitting in the weather allowed water to get into the cylinder head. Trying to free the cylinders caused other problems and forced a rebuild of the engine, which ended up in a complete tear down followed by some new paint. The tractor is not done, but it is now running great. Even with a brand new battery, for some reason it will not start from the battery, but usually only takes 2 to 3 turns on the crank to fire the engine up.

Allen, welcome back. Good to hear from you again.

Thanks for refreshing our memories about your Cub. Glad to hear you got the family Cub. It's looking good and happy to hear it's running good.
