Sydney, You look like a natural on that tractor, me thinks your Dad better start looking for himself another tractor to restore, cause it looks like that one is taken. You go Girl :!: :!:

Scotty, Way to go son getting in among all that green! If I ever saw a rose in a patch of thorns here it is and a RED one at that :!:

Looks like everyone is having a GREAT time. Be safe and enjoy the rest of the 4th :D

Ron
I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

David,

It looks like she is having as much fun as she did at CubFest! The Cub looks even better with the decals. Good on you and your entire family!

A coulter AND a jointer! how can someone be so lucky? I know where there is an old very rusty incomplete coulter, but don't know if it can be bought.

Marion:

Wow, nice Lo-Boy, nice plow, nice fast hitch. I like how you painted the plow Blue and White. Coulter is neat as well. Now, on the coulter is that a scraper to clean the coulter?

Can you point out the jointer to me? All of this fast hitch equipment is new to me. Maybe that is why I can't see it.... :?:    :D

Rudi, that scraper is the jointer.

Rudi, (see pic 10 at the link above)- (also look at pages 7 thru 11 on the Cub manual server; Cub L194 Plow Manual)

The small blade on the bent rod that curls around the coulter wheel is the 'combonation jointer'. There are jointers you can use without the rolling coulter as well, and they mount directly to the plow main beam. The combonation jointer pictured here is the same for this fast hitch coulter AND the coulter that mounts to the 193 plow that the regular Cubs use.

Here's how this setup is designed to work:

The coulter wheel is ahead of the plow and the jointer and slices sod and roots as well as going just a bit deeper into the soil to give you a nice clean furrow edge.

The jointer (small blade bolted on the coulter) cuts about 1 to 2 inches deep and about 3 inches wide just at the edge of the cut the coulter makes. This is supposed to turn the sod and weeds and gunk over into the path of the main plow so that when the plow turns the whole works over EVERYTHING that WAS on top winds up on the BOTTOM to rot. This should leave you with nothing but dirt showing up top and all the plant matter on the bottom to decay and help make fertile soil.

When I get a chance to use it I'll take pictures for sure. There are other pics of garden plowing in other albums at my website also.
