Moldboard plowing

Postby Dusty B » Sat Oct 14, 2023 1:50 pm

Has anyone tried plowing with turf tires.?? Have a free cub with turf tires and a moldboard plow, need about an acre plowed - can put weights on but we have timber soil which can be sticky! Don’t want to go to the trouble of hookiing the plow and then hot be able to pull it at a reasonable depth.

You won't get much done without good traction. You will mostly spin tires.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Turf tries? You didn't state what you are planting/sowing.

I would weight the tractor, front and rear, double set on rear if you have then. Might reduce the tire pressure in the rears a but.

If you are planning on plowing 6" to 8" deep, I would burn/herbicide the plants. Then wait until the plants and roots are dead and soil was pretty dry. Give it a try.

Plants dead, soil dry, I think you should be able to plow 3" to 4" deep. Give it a try.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Try chains?...
At least on the drive wheel?
Not the best but might work in a pinch....
