Low boy with fast hitch question

Postby J Dub » Sat Jul 15, 2023 12:28 pm

I recently purchased a 1961 cub low boy that has a single point fast hitch. When I begin my ventures, searching for fast hitch implements, do they need to be low boy specific or will any fast hitch implement work?

To complicate things even more, there were Fast Hitch implements made for IH tractors other than the Cub and LoBoy. For instance, the moldboard plow for the Super A to 140 FH tractors is similar, but larger, than those made for the Cub. The prong will fit the receiver, but the bottom is 14 inches as opposed to 12 inches. Depending on soil type, the Cub may not be able to pull the larger bottom efficiently.

Hi,
I'm not sure how you are answering his questions Tim.
There are 2 different Cub 38 Disc Harrows, for use with a Cub, or LoBoy.
Below is the operator's manual for them, it shows how they look on page 3.
The Cub disc has a curved hitch beam, the LoBoy disc has a straight hitch beam.

If you want a side mounted sicklebar mower, the L 22 Mower is for use with the LoBoy.
Below is the operator's manual for that, it has 3 mowers in it, for 3 different models of IH tractors.

If you want a front blade, the blade for the LoBoy has different mounting parts than the blade for the Cub.

Below is the list of Cub and LoBoy implement manuals, you can see pictures that are in the manuals.

Below are pics from TM Tractor Parts of what Don said above, comparing the plows.

When using the LF194 Cub FH Moldboard plow on a loboy you will not be able to plow a very deep furrow. The right side wheels run in the furrow on your 2nd pass. The bail will drag along on the unplowed ground.

I have a loboy with a FH that came with a belly mower and did not like that. I removed the belly mower. They were both down at the same time.

Other than PTO driven implements I have used most FH on both types of cubs and a 140. some work better than others on a given tractor.
