hydrolic pump not building pressure

Postby inairam » Sat May 27, 2023 7:56 pm

I noticed the hydrolic oil was leaking into the crank case. I had a pump that I rebuildt a few yeas ago and swapped it out. the pump does pump and causes some movement but not enough to lift a mower deck.

is there something in the rebuild of pump that can be missing that could cause it not to build pressure?

The older version has a small pin seal, black and shaped like a miniature pencil eraser. If it's not installed, the pump won't work. No way to tell without opening it up, unless you remember installing it. The figure 8 spring can also be installed upside down.

Hi,
There is info about which pumps use the pin seal.
Below is a listing for the pump rebuild kit at TM Tractor Parts.
The 3rd pic has a pic of the pin seal, and the other parts in the kit.
The 4th pic tells the model numbers of the pumps, and which parts go in which models.
If you can enlarge the page, it says the pin seal is used in pumps with 01, 02, and 06 at the end of the model number. That is the maker's numbers. There is also the IH part number.
The numbers may be on the side of the pump toward the engine, or out where you can see them.

It would not have been like me to miss the pin seal. I could have missed installing the Figure 8 seal correct side up.

How do you identify which side of the Figure 8 seal is up toward the drive gear?

Flat side to gears, pin/tang side to cover.
