Hi,
I'm switching my 49 to a 12v Delco 10si, and can make up a bracket if someone could provide the dimensions.
From holding it in place and eyeballing it, it appears that the alternator will have to sit pretty tight to the upper rad hose, in order to fit under the hood.
My concern is that if I go ahead and make something up without getting input, I'll get it really close and then have to do it a second time.
That ever happen to anyone?
Thanks

Yes, took me two times to get the bracket right.Grandfatherjim wrote:I'll get it really close and then have to do it a second time. That ever happen to anyone?
I made them out of on hand scrap strap steel. No big loss when the first one wasn't correct.
Search this site. I think there are posts with the dimensions for the bracket.
Edit for spelling.

Re: Delco 10si mounting bracket dimensions/diagram?
Here are a few photos of mine.
I started by making the base plate.
I then used a piece of angle steel to make a bracket. I clamped the bracket in place to get alignment correct.
Once alignment correct I removed bracket and welded it up. I also welded on a second plate to hold the alternator.
I then made an adjustment arm. Instead of a fancy bending of the metal I just made angled cuts and welding things together.
While the alternator cleared the hood with the factory belt I did replace it with one size shorter to give more hood clearance.

I'm thinking the only ones that have dimensions are the ones that produce the brackets for sale. Everyone else has had to figure it out for themselves.

This is very helpful; thank you.
Once I get something together that works I'll post dimensions and drawings in case it helps other home-brewers.
I wouldn't mind buying a pre-made kit but I'm in a hurry, and I'm in Canada, so would rather make it than wait, and deal with cross-border issues/costs.

I cut the back ear off the original bracket and lined it up with front bracket with a bolt and welded it to old bracket, the top adjustment bracket worked with out changing it.
Thanks
