Tap water pressure flush the engine block, specially around and back of cylinder #3 and 4. Also pressure flush the bolster/radiator bottom. Both can be accomplished by removing the water manifold, lower right side of engine.

Is this the arm and pin you are talking about, in the upper left corner of this photo?

Go onto TM Tractor Parts website. Scroll down to How to Hook Up Implements, then down to Moldboard Plow. Look through the photo for the rear rockshaft.

Re: Farmall Cub - Good First Tractor?
I'm waiting on some parts to arrive (new 1/0 gauge battery cables, final drive pan gaskets, etc.) so I thought I'd clean the tractor up a little more while it's sitting in the garage. I cleaned it off pretty good and then put some wax on everything. It actually turned out pretty good. Certainly not a show tractor, but it looks pretty nice.

Looks very nice! You may have trouble routing 1/0 gauge battery cable to the starter. I think 2 gauge is what they came with originally.

I've successfully routed 2/0 cable...of course, it was welding cable which is more flexible. It WAS tight at the clutch pedal and it was a challenge getting the "crimp-on" clip around it between the clutch pedal and the clutch housing!

Cool! That looks nice! If you were able to fit 2/0 cable through there then hopefully I can fit my 1/0 cable.
Hoping to get the new cables installed tomorrow. Would love if the tractor could fire up nicely using the 6v battery.
Here's a pic of the new battery cables. They just showed up the other day.

Re: Farmall Cub - Good First Tractor?
One more question regarding the cables.
I noticed on my starter, there is a washer between the starter switch and the cable terminal end. It's a pretty sad looking thing. I took it off when I cleaned up the connections and put it back on again, but I was kind of thinking maybe I should leave it off. When I hit the starter to fire the tractor, it sparked a little bit right there. I'm guessing that washer is causing a little gap there or something and the current is jumping.
I was going to remove it and just have the terminal go direct to the starter. Just curious if any of you guys have things set up differently on your tractors where the cable hooks up to the starter?

Re: Farmall Cub - Good First Tractor?
I would remove the washers there and sand them, and clean them, or replace them with new shiny washers.
Use a fine wire brush and clean any rust from the post on the switch, and the area, and put a little motor oil on the post and nuts to stop rust.
Put the washer on if it fits good there.
Not all switches made by all companies are the same.
Delco made a cast metal switch.
TM Tractor has a sheet metal switch.
Yours may not need a washer under the cable end, I don't know without seeing it.
There is usually a lock washer above the cable end, under the top nut.
I sent you a PM.

Re: Farmall Cub - Good First Tractor?
Got the new battery cables on today. Finally got the tractor fired up using the 6v battery! Fired up pretty quick actually. I took it for a spin around the property in each gear. All the gears worked and there didn't seem to be any issues. The charging system appears to be working properly as well. It shows 2 amps on low and 10 amps on high.
I filled the gas tank up but noticed some fuel spilling out from the gas cap. Think I may need a new cap or possibly a gasket. I see Steiner Tractor has a few options.
I ended up routing the cable under the clutch pedal rather than through that little hole. There wasn't much space there and the return spring for the pedal looks like it would be rubbing on the cable constantly. I ran it underneath that area with a little zip tie to hold it in place. I then routed it up under the hood and then back down to the starter. Some of the clips were busted or gone, so I improvised with some zip ties.
It was fun riding around on the property today though! Third gear moves pretty good. Here's a few pics I took this evening...

Re: Farmall Cub - Good First Tractor?
Make sure you make a mental note to yourself:
"Unhook/cut zip ties" holding your cable & wires under the hood BEFORE you are holding the gas-filled tank/hood trying to figure out why you can't get it off!!!

Re: Farmall Cub - Good First Tractor?
Hi,
The Cub looks good in your pictures.
The gas cap gasket can get old and shrink, and not seal right on the tank.
TM Tractor has a new gasket for the original cap, and info to get the free cap that Don posted above.
The new replacement cap is taller than the original cap.
