If my cub was originally a positive ground when I Flipped it to negative ground 12 volt wouldn't reverse the direction of the starter to.

Re: Just A Cub Question
Kind of weird because on regular electric motors when you reverse polarity it spins opposite.

Re: Just A Cub Question
Not an electronics guy, so I won’t attempt an explanation. But I would venture to say that almost all 12V conversions still have the 6V starter on them

Re: Just A Cub Question
A motor turns because of interaction between the current in the armature and the magnetic field inside the housing. In the case of a starter motor, the magnetic field is produced by current flow through the field coils. When you change polarity of the system, the current in both the armature and the field coils are reversed. So the motor still turns the same direction.
If this isn't clear, I suggest you go to the PDF manuals and look at GSS-1310 Electical Fundamentals. You find it under /Service Manuals/Blue Ribbon Service Manuals/. Look at the Fundamentals section (to page 15) then skip down to the Cranking Motor section that starts on page 27. Post back if you have any questions.
