Re: Brake drum
I guess you meant the seal in the final drive.
While the brake drum is off the shaft, remove the brake drum key from the shaft, remove the round cover held on with 4 bolts at the end of the shaft. Then the shaft will slide out the hole, to the left from how it would be if it was on the Cub.
Leave the snap ring on the bearing.
Then you can use a long punch and hammer the seal out.
Be sure to put the new seal in with the lip facing towards the final drive.
Don't hammer directly on a new seal, put wood or flat metal on it to hammer on.
Be sure the shaft is smooth and flat where it runs on the seal, use fine sandpaper and sand it smooth if needed. Wipe off all sanding with a clean rag.
Put oil on the seal rubber, and the shaft where it runs on the seal, before putting the shaft in.
Below is a pic of the seal. TM Tractor has new seals.

Re: Brake drum
I was actually asking about the one in the transmission. I need to look at my service manual so i know what is where. I think the YouTube video from Steiner on changing brakes says there is a seal that is hard to get from the right, but easier with the left off

Re: Brake drum
Hi,
The seal in the left side of the transmission is easily seen when the final drive is off.
Below is a How To by Dale Finch about removing the left final drive, and repairing the left brake. It has lots of pictures.

You have to remove the right side extension to get to the seal on the right side of the trans. You need to remove the seat, battery box, and loosen the platform, so the rear of it will lift up, then the extension will come off of the trans.
Below are pics.
The 1st pic is the left side, it is from Dale's post about brake repair.
The 2nd pic is the right side after removing the extension.

I think Steiner was talking about removing the finals. More work to remove the right final than the left.ozimmerman wrote:I was actually asking about the one in the transmission. Glen posted photos of the seal location. One photo shows someone removing the seal.
I have an excuse. CRS.
